Trailblazers: Skiing Fun for the Next Generation

Our Trailblazers Ski Course is designed to give young skiers a head start before they hit the slopes. Whether your child is completely new to skiing or has already taken a few runs, Trailblazers offers a fun and supportive environment where they can learn, grow and build confidence over an engaging three-hour session.

Level 1: Building Strong Foundations

By the end of Level One, your child will be able to:

Learn to carry their equipment safely to and from the starting point.

Master putting on and taking off their gear with a focus on safety.

Move confidently on a flat slope, showing good balance and awareness of others around them.

Climb up a slope using the side step technique, without slipping back.

Safely control their speed using a snowplough, always mindful of other slope users.

Adjust the size of their snowplough to come to a smooth, natural stop.

Execute controlled snowplough turns at a steady, slow pace.

Complete at least three controlled turns as they descend the slope.

Properly ride the nursery slope lift with confidence.

Level 2: Advancing Your Child's Skills

By the end of Level Two, your child will be able to:

Master a strong snowplough at higher speeds with solid edge control.

Traverse the slope in parallel, applying the right pressure on the downhill ski.

Finish with a clean parallel stop across the slope.

Blend plough-parallel turns, starting in a snowplough and ending in parallel.

Execute a smooth sideslip while keeping skis aligned.

Turn effectively with a solid pole plant, maintaining good posture.

Keep consistent contact between their shins and boots.

Understand the basics of the FIS safety code.

Chris

Chris, our head ski coach, blends technical expertise with fun. He ensures every skier, from beginners to advanced, improves skills and confidence while enjoying the slopes. Chris focuses on technique, progression and a lasting love for skiing.

Tom

Tom’s a high-energy, fun-loving instructor passionate about making skiing unforgettable. Teaching Level 1 and 2 courses, he guides beginners and improvers alike. Tom’s goal is for every student to progress, build confidence and have a blast on the slopes.

Geoff is a seasoned instructor with a structured, adaptable approach. He builds a solid skills foundation, focusing on precision and confidence. Geoff’s lessons help skiers improve technique, ensuring they feel secure on any terrain while progressing at their own pace.

Open 7 days a week, it’s the perfect place to relax and unwind after you've hit the slopes. Enjoy a leisurely brunch—served daily until 4pm—or grab a bite from our bar menu later in the day.

When the weather’s good, our deck area is ideal for alfresco dining. At The Lookout, it's all about savouring great food, drinks and breathtaking scenery with friends.
