At The Oakwood, we’ve been a cornerstone of the local squash community since the late 1970s, welcoming players of all ages and skill levels. With three glass-backed courts and a team of top-notch coaches, including our Head Squash Professional, British Open Masters Champion & England Masters player, Phil Rushworth, along with our club squash ambassador & former world top-30 player, Joe Lee.
Our comprehensive junior programme nurtures young talent, while our internal leagues cater to players of all levels. For those looking for more competitive play, we also field four teams in the Surrey Cup leagues.

Club Sessions

Club Night is a weekly highlight, where members of all standards come together for social play and competitive matches in a welcoming environment. For those looking to test their skills further, our internal leagues provide structured competition tailored to various abilities. Junior Programs
Our junior squash program is designed to inspire and develop young talent, offering a fun and supportive environment for players of all skill levels. With expert coaching from our dedicated team, including tailored sessions for different age groups, we focus on building both technical skills and a passion for the game. The program includes regular training, match play and the opportunity to participate in internal leagues and competitions. Private Lessons
Whether you’re a beginner looking to learn the basics or an experienced player aiming to refine specific techniques, our expert coaches provide focused instruction that accelerates your progress. With flexible scheduling and one-on-one attention, private lessons are ideal for anyone looking to enhance their game, build confidence and achieve their squash goals more effectively.
Squash Events
The annual club championship sees members competing for top honours, while our teams and players participate in local and national tournaments. We also host professional exhibition matches, allowing members to watch elite squash up close. These events provide opportunities for competition, skill development and community connection. Whether you’re playing, spectating or enjoying the atmosphere, our squash events are a key part of our vibrant club experience.
Junior Squash Courses
Our Junior Squash Courses are designed to help young players develop their skills, build confidence and stay active. Our friendly coaches create a fun and supportive environment for all abilities, from complete beginners to experienced players.
Adult Beginner Squash
Our Adult Beginner Squash Course returns for a 5-week course, running from Tuesday, 21st April to Tuesday, 19th May.
When: Tuesdays, 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
Price: £60 members | £75 non-members
Spring into action as you learn the fundamentals, develop key shots and build confidence on court. Our friendly coaches create a supportive environment, with all equipment provided, just bring non-marking shoes and sporting attire.

Phil Rushworth
Phil is our Head Squash Professional with 25 years of coaching experience. A Level 4 High Performance England Squash Coach, he has worked as South East Regional Coach and England Junior Assistant Coach. As a player, Phil is a British National O40’s and British Open O40’s Champion, regularly representing England in Masters international competitions.

Emmeline Gale
Emmeline, our Assistant Squash Professional, has been part of the England Junior Squad, a Surrey County Champion and an England Masters Player. She's also a qualified Level 2 Squash Coach and Level 3 Personal Trainer.

Joe Lee
Squash ambassador Joe Lee is a seasoned squash professional who achieved a highest world ranking of 29. A British National Senior finalist and multiple PSA titleholder, Joe brings over 15 years of experience on the PSA World Tour. His expertise and passion for the sport make him an invaluable part of our team.

Charlie Lee
Charlie, our Assistant Squash Professional, is a current touring professional with a highest world ranking of 43. He is a European Champion with England and an English Junior Champion, bringing a wealth of experience to our team.
