British National Masters Squash Championships
A huge congratulations to Oakwood players, Ken Brittain, Dermot Hurford, and our very own superstar coach, Emmeline Gale, for their outstanding performances at the British National Masters Squash Championships at Colets this weekend!
-
Ken Brittain put in a fantastic effort in the Men’s Over 80s Round Robin, winning one of his three matches to secure third place — an impressive achievement in what we believe was his first Masters event!
-
Dermot Hurford, seeded 5/8, caused a major upset by knocking out the No. 2 seed 3-1 in the quarter-finals, followed by a thrilling 3-2 victory in the semis. The final proved a tough challenge, but Dermot’s incredible run was truly inspiring!
-
Emmeline Gale is officially a National Champion! She claimed the Women’s Over 40s title with a hard-fought 3-2 win against top seed Lizzie Little of Scotland — an amazing achievement!
English Junior Squash Championships
Our Oakwood Junior Squash Players also shone at the English Junior Championships in Nottingham from 7th-9th February. We’re incredibly proud of their performances!
Special congratulations to our two finalists:
Thomas Earwicker – Runner-up in the Boys Under 11s, narrowly missing out on the title. Luke McBride – Boys Under 17s Champion, winning the final in straight games!
Final Placings:
Savannah Maskell Hawes – Girls Under 11 – 8th place
Michael Chak – Boys Under 19 – 6th place
A massive well done to all our players — you’ve made The Oakwood proud!
